Luanda, May 21, 2024 – Rodrigo Subtil’s “Viver Angola” exhibition, supported by Nutry, the juice brand from Refriango, opened today as part of the 6th International Theater and Arts Festival of Luanda. The exhibition will be on display at Elinga Theater until June 1st.
“Viver Angola” is a journey through the country’s breathtaking landscapes and its human and emotional geography. The exhibition, marking the opening of the festival at Elinga Theater, is the result of seven years of constant travels by the photographer across Angola.
The exhibition features 15 photographs—five portraits and ten aerial landscape shots taken with a drone—showcasing Rodrigo Subtil’s passion for the country. Between March 2018 and March 2024, Subtil traveled across provinces like Cabinda, Cunene, Bié, Kwanza Sul, Luanda, Malanje, and Namibe, capturing the natural and human dimensions of Angola with his artistic lens.
“This exhibition is a small sample of Angola's natural beauty. It’s also a modest record of the country’s cultural diversity, which was one of the most beautiful surprises I encountered when I started traveling here, especially from 2018 onwards. I have been warmly received in all provinces. I hope this exhibition inspires others to step out of their homes, to live their passions and hobbies that energize us, or simply to contemplate and appreciate Angola and its people more,” said Rodrigo Subtil.
“Viver Angola” is supported by Nutry and marks the beginning of an ambitious project involving talented photographers, aiming to share the natural beauty and essence of Angola, as well as the resilience of its people. According to David Moisés, Category Manager for Non-Alcoholic Beverages at Refriango, "Nutry believes in the authenticity and depth of Angola, and this exhibition offers a unique perspective of our country. Throughout this year, we will launch a campaign featuring various photographers, challenging them to capture images that reflect the best of Angola, from its lush landscapes to the people who symbolize our soul.” He added, “Nutry's brand strategy is based on three pillars: Cultivation – the Origin, the connection to our land; Culture – Glorification of fruit and nutritional literacy; and Cult, which translates into creativity and reinvention of enjoying family time. In 2024, we will continue to strengthen this positioning, maintaining the concept while evolving communication with the brand’s 3 C’s."
Tânia Jardim, Refriango’s Marketing Director, emphasized “the importance of each brand within Refriango having its purpose and social mission. With Nutry, we aim to develop a tribe with a greater social and sustainable awareness, proud of the country's talent, heritage, and genetic identity.” She added, “In our daily routine, we often lose sight of the details that make Angola a unique country. The artistic sensitivity of the photographers involved in Nutry’s communication platform this year is crucial in reconnecting us with the country and each other. Rodrigo Subtil brings us the subtlety of these details through his lens within a complex social and visual context. Nutry and Refriango’s commitment to maximizing the best in each of us is unwavering: whether through art, capacity-building programs, or social responsibility projects that help us grow as a society and a country, offering us the opportunity to build a bright future for Angola.”
