Jahmek Contemporary Art and Tigra Present Group Exhibition “For a New Tomorrow”

Five contemporary artists from the new generation bring the exhibition “For a New Tomorrow” to life, inaugurated by Jahmek Contemporary Art on Friday, November 25, in Luanda. The exhibition is another step in the partnership between the gallery and Tigra and will be on display until December 23 at Hotel Globo.

Luanda, December 1, 2022 – The reflection on the role of Art and artists in building a different future is central to the collection of works in the group exhibition “For a New Tomorrow.”

Irene A'mosi, Lilianne Kiame, Hélder Garcia, Magno Daniel, and Resem Verkron are the emerging young artists who are part of the initiative, presenting works specially created for this exhibition, exploring different artistic disciplines such as painting, architecture, writing, and audiovisuals. The intersection of these different forms of expressing visions and sensitivities aims to enrich the reflection that the initiative proposes on "the new tomorrow."

“For a New Tomorrow” is the latest project in the partnership between Jahmek Contemporary Art and Tigra. The formal relationship between the gallery and the brand began in April of this year with the project “World Art Day by Tigra,” where 24 artists showcased their creations on billboards across the capital on World Art Day, with the theme "What if the future was…"

For Mehak Vieira, co-founder of Jahmek Contemporary Art, the exhibition “For a New Tomorrow” aims to empower young talents. “The future is here and now. These five artists represent hope; they have a lot to say, do, and address. Therefore, we continue to develop the continent's thought to the world,” said the gallery owner and curator of the exhibition.

Similarly, Tânia Jardim, Marketing Manager at Refriango, commented, “This initiative is another step towards empowering young Angolans who have a powerful voice in building this new tomorrow.” “In recent years, Tigra has highlighted the work, effort, and overcoming challenges of Angolan youth, which is exceptional and needs spaces where they can express themselves, develop, and have their talent visible and recognized,” she added.

She also pointed out that “the exhibition is part of a collaboration with Jahmek Contemporary Art, which began with the ‘World Art Day by Tigra’ event,” in which Tigra also supported the gallery with the pop-up space at Hotel Globo, where the “For a New Tomorrow” exhibition is being held.

Having been on the Angolan market for six years, Tigra has supported several visual arts projects, such as the Rainha Ginga Street Mural, a work by the Verkron collective and six self-taught urban artists who benefit from scholarships funded by the brand.
